Roman floor tile with dog’s print

2000 years ago, in Roman Britain, some newly made roof tiles were left out to dry. They would then be put in a kiln for firing, to make them hard and waterproof. A mischievous dog walked across the wet tiles, leaving its paw prints behind in this one and making its mark in history. Dogs were used by the Romans for guarding their houses and for hunting, but they were also kept as pets.

Do you think this Roman dog was a pet? Do you have a dog or other pet?
