Old telephone

Telephones have come in many shapes and sizes since they were invented in the 1870s. This one from our collection is probably from the 1930s and was used in an office in Woolwich Arsenal.

Telephones have become more and more sophisticated and are now like mini computers. They have also become increasingly important in our lives, particularly during the COVID-19 crisis when we had to stay at home and not see our family, friends and colleagues. Tell us how you kept in touch during lockdown.
