In 2000, the Greenwich Vietnam Community held a celebration at Woolwich Public Hall to mark the Year of the Dragon. Vietnamese people have been settling in the borough since at least the 1970s. In the 2011 Census, 917 people were listed as speaking Vietnamese, one of over 90 languages spoken in our hugely diverse borough.

The New Year is the most important celebration in Vietnamese culture. Recently we haven’t been able to gather properly to celebrate festivals of any kind, whether it be Easter, Diwali or Christmas, or even meet for sport or clubs. Tell us about what you have missed out on this year.
