Phyllis Annie Grapes wore this wedding dress when she married Herbert Frederick William Goffin on 27 July 1935 at St John’s Church, Blackheath. From their marriage certificate, we know that Herbert worked as a turner, that is someone who ‘turns’ shapes from metal or wood. Phyllis’ father was a chauffeur and lived in the coach house.
